1. Introduction
Best Parents ("we", "our", or "us") is a co-parenting app designed to help separated or divorced parents coordinate schedules, expenses, messages, and child information in one private place. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the app you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you register we collect your name and email address.
Content you create. Calendar events, messages, shared expenses, handover notes, check-ins, medication logs, and child profiles you enter are stored in our database so both co-parents can access them.
Photos. If you choose to add a profile photo or a child's photo, the image is uploaded to our secure cloud storage. You may remove it at any time.
Device push token. To deliver notifications, we store your Expo push notification token in a private, access-controlled subcollection that is never visible to your co-parent or any other user.
Usage data. We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs. Firebase may collect limited technical data (e.g. crash reports) subject to Google's own privacy policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the app's features.
- To send push notifications when your co-parent shares an update (you can disable these in Settings).
- To enforce security rules that keep your data private from anyone outside your co-parenting pair.
- To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not serve advertisements.
4. Data Sharing
Your co-parent. Content you create in shared sections (calendar, messages, expenses, etc.) is visible to the one co-parent you have linked your account with. Incident logs and your private push token are never shared.
Service providers. We use Google Firebase (Firestore, Firebase Auth, Firebase Storage, and Cloud Functions) to store and process data. Google acts as a data processor under appropriate data protection agreements.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
5. Data Security
Child profile data is encrypted before being stored in Firestore. Your push token is stored in a subcollection that Firestore security rules restrict to your account only. All data in transit is protected by TLS. Access to the database is enforced by server-side security rules that verify your identity on every read and write.
No method of transmission or storage is 100 % secure. We are committed to using industry-standard practices to protect your data.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual items within the app. To request full account deletion, email us at the address below and we will remove your account and associated data within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Best Parents is intended for use by adults (co-parents). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Child profile data entered by parents (names, dates of birth, photos) is stored on behalf of the parent and subject to the parent's control.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below.
9. Third-Party Links
The app does not contain links to third-party websites or services other than Firebase infrastructure operated by Google.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
